AMCO (American Moistening Company) manufactures Gas Turbine Inlet Air Cooling System (Fogging System) to augment power output of Gas Turbines. To date, AMCO has designed, manufactured and delivered over 200 units worldwide. Inlet Air Cooling systems cool the Inlet Air by introducing a fine mist of de-mineralized water into the inlet air stream just after the filters. This cooling will lower the air’s temperature to approach wet bulb temperature saturation levels and as a result, increase turbine efficiency and power output, lowering Heat Rate, NOx and CO emissions. AMCO also includes “Overspray” options to introduce water above the amount needed for saturation and further increase power output.
AMCO offers a new design to add the benefits of Water Wash to Inlet Air Cooling. Water Wash, a common maintenance operation used to wash down the silencer, compressor and turbine blades without shutting down the turbine, is sprayed into the inlet air stream downstream of the cooling arrays. The AMCOWASH® spray does not evaporate since the air is already saturated: some droplets will re-agglomerate to produce a more efficient washing action.
The additional amount of water flow required for AMCO is available at any operating condition through the control program. Customers can choose automatic or manual mode. In order to have much more informations regarding gas turbine maintenance, please visit our blog just
